Hearts to wear

So, it's nearly that time of the year, Valentines day. Now, like me, you might not have a date for Valentines and might want to treat yourself (seen as no-one else will!) Or you may have a date and want to dress according to the theme :)

MUA lipstick review

Since trying Make Up Academy's products I've been thoroughly impressed (apart from the concealer I got which didn't have a tester in the shop but was £2 or something so I just got  it in the lightest shade but was too dark for me and ended up looking orange!) Yes, apart from that, the value for money is absolutely exceptional and I just love their products!

I was desperate for some new lipsticks as I often find many of the ones I already have dry my lips out which is just the worst thing! I was also on a very tight budget and after searching the web high and low and reading many reviews I finally concluded that I wanted to try out MUA's lipsticks as they're only a pound and the reviews said they didn't dry their lips out.

I picked up shade 14: Bare and shade 8 which doesn't have a name.
The really cool thing about them is that in the bottom they have a little pot of lipstick-y lip-gloss in the same colour as the lipstick which I haven't actually used yet but I think they would make a good primer.

Swatched without flash, 3 layers on each.

Bare is actually a really good nude lipstick, it's not too sheer and is nice and creamy. The best part is that like shade 8, it doesn't dry your lips out, hallelujah! If anything I'd say it's quite moisturising. However, it definitely doesn't have the staying power of shade 8 and after a drink and a bite to eat it was pretty much gone.

You can see how sheer it is here as I only applied 1 layer. You can also see how dry my poor lips are, bring on the warmer weather!

Shade 8 is very sheer and I found worked better once your lips are roughly filled in with red liner first then with a couple of layers of the lipstick applied on top. It has tiny little sparkles in which at first I thought I wasn't going to like but I actually do, it just makes it a little bit shimmery and eye-catching. This colour has a fantastic staying power, I wore it to college which starts at like 8:30 and it was still there at lunch, obviously not as much but there was still a bit of colour, it acted almost as a lip stain! :)

Overall, I'm very happy with my MUA lippys and wont hesitate to get some more, I think they have 16 shades and I might just end up getting all of them, well why not for £1 each aye?! ;)

Until next time,

Catch-up and Ikea

I haven't been able to blog for ages due to exams :( but I'm back and raring to go again!

Firstly I thought I'd share with you another photo of the sky which I took on another early morning walk to the bus, this really is becoming a regular thing! I just can't ignore how pretty it looks and have to stop and capture it.

Can you see how I couldn't just walk along without taking a photo now?!

Secondly, is anyone else aware about the Hello Kitty range in Superdrug? It's so cute, god knows what the quality of any of products are like but c'mon the lipsticks have Hello Kitty's head on the top and the nail varnish bottles are in the shape of Hello Kitty's head; if I had £2.49 kicking about I'd actually buy one of the nail polishes to see what it was like and if it was horrific then I'd still be able to sit it in my room so it could look all nice and cute!

Finally, I went to Ikea before Christmas, yes before Christmas and I'm only doing a post on it now! I really am hopeless but I took some photos whilst I was there and I thought I'd just pop them in a post.

When I have my own place I want a sofa like one of these! I love the Union Jack one but that crazy patterned one is just so different and fun.

I thought this combo was lovely; the delicate lacey design goes so nicely with the pretty, rusty coloured curtain.

German books, I'd expect no different in Ikea! The poopy quality from my phone camera shows in this one, sorry about that :/

The colour of these plates and bowls is so lovely and the wavy detail around the bowls gives them a bit of a vintage feel. The photo frame is also so, so nice, I love frames with intricate detailing.

Look, they had Christmas decorations up! *Regrets not making this post sooner*
:/

I loved the vintagey look appearing in a lot of their display, that jug of flowers is simply gorgeous. However, that candle with the sticker around it will not quit bugging me as it has pretty much sabotaged the photograph!

I thought I'd take a more arty photo of it through a vase.

I thought this tray looked very Cath Kidston-y and instantly fell in love with it's floral design but it was a TRAY for goodness sake and I don't even have my own kitchen!

Love, love, love this. What's not to love!? The cute little floral design is just the best and the lace curtain just makes it look even more delicate and feminine. LOVE.

These prints are so gorgeous and look like they've been pulled out of an old plant book. I love the fact that they're also in white frames on a really cute light pink wall.
I don't think the wall's cute, I think the colour is. Just to confirm. Oh god, hahaa.

Such a cool wardrobe! I think this would be enough to jazz up any room.

Okay, so if you've ever been to Ikea then you'll know that they sell some pretty random stuff and throughout the store there were these baskets full of rats getting bigger and bigger. They were meant to be for children but we (my mum, older sister and I) bought a small one for our puppy as a toy and a big one for my little sister who's one year younger than me, 15, for a joke Christmas present which we all found pretty funny.

I hope that this blog has given you a bit of interior inspiration, or inspired you to pop out to Ikea or if you just enjoyed having a quick look.
It's been great to get back to doing a bit of blogging!

Until next time,
Frankie xx

OOTD

Hello there! This is a little belated Christmassy meal outfit post. The outfit is reasonably versatile so would do for other pretty casual outings/occasions too.

Shirt (old): H&M, Necklace (old): New Look, Cardigan (old): H&M, Skirt (Yep, you guessed it-old): Fat face - though they do some pretty close dupes in Primark now for something ridiculously cheap.

For my hair I achieved a slightly tousled look by slightly straightening my longer botton layers and loosely curling a few strands here and there of the top layers using my Babyliss 2285U curling wand which is super easy to use :).

Hope you had a great Christmas and are now enjoying the new year!

Until next time,
Frankie xx

YouTube!

Recently two of my friends (Jack and Stevie) and I decided to set up a YouTube channel. We're called FSJTV1 and will upload mainly entertainment/comedy videos but also some things like hauls and beauty etc. We started off by creating a funny little welcoming video to introduce everyone to our channel; don't worry, it is most definitely not boring!
Please feel free to watch the video and visit our channel to give it a like, comment, subscribe and check out at all our links.
Follow the link at the end of the video, which will be on Stevie's face, to view our Lyrical Phone Prank video which we did in response to ThatcherJoe's one.

Follow this link to visit our channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/FSJTV1?feature=watch
I'm really looking forwards to continuing this little project and will probably branch out and do my own videos such as beauty tutorials, hauls and things along those lines. What do you think?
I'd absolutely love to get some feedback! :)

Until next time,
Frankie xx

The Leibster Award

Thanks so much to Tilda at Tilda Spills who nominated me for the Liebster Award which is for blogs with under 200 followers. It's so lovely to receive something like this as it shows that someone out there likes your blog :)

The rules

  • If you receive an award you must link back to the blogger who awarded you!
  •  You have to write "11 Random facts" about yourself and answer the 11 questions the awarder wrote for you!
  • Make up 11 new questions to be answered and nominate 11 other bloggers, they must have under 200 followers!

11 facts about me

  1. I  live in the countryside in a small holding (which is basically like a small farm.) We have chickens, ducks, 4 dogs, a cat and 3 horses.
  2. If I'm going out, whether it's school or spending the day in town, I'll check the weather the day before so I can decide what to wear without getting caught out in bad weather.
  3. I got an A* for my GCSE art and I was very proud of myself.
  4. I'm constantly looking for new make-up and hair inspiration and am frequently changing my look.
  5. I find it really hard to get rid of any of my possessions so I have way too much stuff!
  6. I have an unbelievable talent of procrastinating.
  7. I make lists. For everything and anything.
  8. I often find nature/science/geography programmes really interesting.
  9. I've been clay-pigeon shooting twice and I really enjoyed it.
  10. I'm doing my A levels currently and I find it unbelievably stressful.
  11. Although everyone (including myself) has high expectations of me academically, I think the youtuber/blogger lifestyle looks so fun and it makes me want to drop out of college and do that instead, which probably isn't a very good mindset at the minute.
Questions from Tilda

What do you prefer; slouchy jumpers or casual dresses? Slouchy jumpers, where would I be without them?!

If you could only follow one blog, which blog would it be? Zoella's- wildly unoriginal but true, she's a major inspiration.

What can't you live without? Oxygen. Okay, okay, enough with being funny...my nice cosy room to come back to after a tiring/hard day.

What's your idea of a great night? Being with my friends; going for a meal, staying at one of their houses, party, cinema etc. However, my favourite night of all is Friday because I can literally do nothing, I'll catch up with TV, go on the internet and just do anything I haven't been able to do all week due to school work. Sad but true!

What's your favourite season and why? Summer; I come out of hibernation and no longer mind spending much time outside, also it's the summer holidays and my birthday.
The last thing you read was..? The Perks of being a Wallflower for the second time. I read it years ago but when I heard about it being a film I thought I'd re-read it.

Favourite thing about blogging? Just having my own little place where I can share everything I love and have fun, everyone's nice and no-one judges you negatively.

Where do you see yourself at the end of 2013? I don't know, I will have just finished AS's, I see good things for 2013, a couple of my friends and I have recently recorded our first YouTube videos and a channel will be up soon. I'm REALLY looking forwards to that aspect of it and I'd love my blog to grow and expand.

Any new years resolutions? I'm trying very hard to combat my anxiety issues and although it's cheesy think that 'You Only Live Once' more.

Who's your girl crush? Mila Kunis and Emma Stone are both so pretty and great actresses.

Cats or dogs? Dogs! :)

Bird cage

For Christmas my parents bought me a bird cage, they knew how much I wanted one for my room; I love the rustic feel of them, especially their imperfections. I decided to hang it in my window by my origami cranes but needed a bit of inspiration for how to..well, decorate it I suppose!

(Souces: Tumblr via Vintage bird cage - Inspiration by michaella.buranova on Flickr)

This cage has similar detailing to mine and I like the classic look that this image portrays, however I wanted mine to be a bit more exciting so the search continued...

I love the flower garland wrapped around this one and if I ever have the opportunity to buy one similar I may well do it as it makes it look so pretty and feminine.

Again another garland which I love, I think it just adds to the rustic look of it.

How pretty is this with the candle shining through, I considered using some a kind of light in mine but wasn't sure what would look best and didn't want it to be too cluttered so maybe I'll add one later on in it's life in my room.

I know you can barely see the tiny little birdcages in this image but I just love the image as a whole; the organised clutter, the neat books combined with the quirky little ornaments.

Yet more flowers, I really need to get my hands on some!

This one's really unusual and terribly rustic, it's also been used practically which I like.

a bird cage would complete the back room... only a rusted copper colored one!

This has a really distressed feeling about it, the jug looks so nice but I wasn't sure about
having a jug hanging from my ceiling.

These candles look so pretty but again I didn't want it to be too cluttered as I wanted quite a lot of things in it and I also thought there might be a fire hazard if I had other bits and pieces in there!

Yes, I need to buy some sort of flowery garland I know.

This is what I've done so far, it's a bit of a work in progress but I like it so far!

I made this little bird myself a couple of years ago using entrapment on it's wings.

This necklace is an old one from New Look and I think it fits in nicely with the birdcage.

I love making cranes because each one has a different memory behind it because I've made them all over the place from different bits of paper. My flock hangs by white thread from my ceiling, this one (above) is made from some pretty wrapping paper I've held on to for years-I'm a bit of a hoarder!

The cage is wearing a collar! It's from H&M by the way. I don't know where the ribbon's from, probably a present or something.

Another old necklace from New Look which again I think fits in well with the birdcage :)

This a Miso label from something I bought in Republic a long time ago but as I said, I'm a hoarder and couldn't bare to get rid of it due to it's pretty pattern.

I love my birdcage and will continue to add more bits and pieces and switch it up. If you have any suggestions or particularly like anything from any of the images, do let me know to help me out! :D

Until next time,
Frankie xx
